74 Floor Pans

Alright so heres the deal. I bought a 74 that was in decent shape but had some problems, Unfortianitly for me I didnt relize the floor pans were eaten out with rust. I realized this when one day I got tired of smelling the nasty smell of an old guys smokeing habbit. Now the carpet itself was dry but the padding underneath was a diffrent story it was wet about half way next to the metal, Now i knoe the pans are eaten threw I should have jacked the sucker up to get underneath enof to check but that was my bad. Now I need floor pans for my 74, well my question is do you guys know any good places online to look for a complete floor pan or will I have to settle for it in sections?

They only sell sections for the 4th Generation. Then they don't tell you they are for the Chevelle coupe and there for the rear pans are short by about 8". So do not cut anything out before you get them. I know from experience. Save as much of the original floor as you can! Cool

Do you need a complete pan?

I can't remember now, but I "think" Dad and I got ours (both of us have 77's at least for a little longer) from Year One... but we both only needed the rear section behind the seat. There were a few very small pinholes up front on mine that were easy fixes...

Just finished my 74 SS. Same problem. Got my front pans from the ElCamino store . Was able to repair the rear ones.
Take out the seats and carpet to assess the damage first, then make a plan to repair the damage. If its not too bad, maybe you can just cut a portion of the new pan and weld it to the existing good part of the pan.
There are many ways to fix that. Best is when you don't have to drill out the original weld spots ( so I was told)Google for it. I found a lot of good information doing that. I had an estimate of $ 1800.- from one body shop.
I shopped around and got it done for $300.- including pans.

Besides the ElCamino store you can also try El Camino Parts in California.
I think all stores get it from the same supplier anyway.

i got my floor pans in four pieces through ECPARTS.NET. and yes they were a few inches short. if i remember right, its the few inches where the center brace is under the seat, where the front seat bolts mount.

From what I've found the front pan for a Chevelle is the same as an Elky...

BUT the rear pan is 4 inches to short (sorry no pics) I ended cutting mine leaving 4" of stock flooring so it would work/look right. Hope this helps??
