Gentlemen, I am having a problem with my 86's turn signal system. I have reviewed at least 2/3's of the results of searching the forum for an answer to my problem, but did not see what I needed.
I confess I am no electrician, in fact I feel befuddled in trying to figure out serious electrical problems. I feel I have given the system a good once over and see no obvious problems.
Here is my problem--the right side system works perfectly. The left side does not work. With the lever down, no light illuminates, not even the arrow in dash. But I do hear the flasher mechanism clicking fast like a bulb is out. I do not feel it is a ground issue, but tell me if I am wrong.
Could this be:
a problem in the t/s mechanism in the steering wheel?
a short somewhere?

If it is a short, how can I locate it?
Thanks for your time, and suggestions.

Replace the bulbs on the left side to start with. I have seen them blow and the element fall down on one side and short to ground. The really fast clicking of the flasher sounds like a ground problem but its cheap and won't hurt anything to try the bulbs first. Let us know and I'm sure one of us will be able to help you find something.

I checked the bulbs, but all were ok. While driving home yesterday, out of frustration of giving arm signals, I gave the steering wheel one of those "adjustment" bumps. Believe it or not the left side worked a couple of times but quit again. I think I'll follow the trail and pull the steering wheel off to check out the t/s assembly.
Thanks for the reply, and I will let the forum know what I find.
