I have water leaking into the interior on the passenger side at the toe section on the floor. It happens when it rains really hard.

I've looked for leaks at the firewall and can't seem to find one.

When I look at the leak it seams to be coming from the black plastic heater vent.

Is it possible it's coming in from the heater?

Has anyone else experienced this?

If it's a seal, where is the seal and what is the part number?

Oh, yeah. I have a 78 Caballero.

Thanks in advance.

Alix, you may want to check the Fan Motors drain, it may be plugged with debri. Is your Elky equiped with A/C? The seal around the windshied could also be leaking. Those are just two areas I would check into.

The windsheild was recently replaced and I looked for any holes. Could'n find one.

I do not have AC,

Where is the drain for the fan motor?

CoyoteOn2 is almost certainly spot on with the blocked heater box/fan drain. It will be plugged up with leaves and other junk, so after it has been raining for a while the box fills up and then the water trickles inside.
It is hard to explain how to find it, but if you go under the hood and reach right down under the heater box you should feel an opening. It is almost big enough to get your hand/fingers into, if it feels blocked just keep poking with your fingers until you clear the junk out.
I hosed my Elky down with water first until it started leaking inside, having the water build up in the box will help flush the blockage out. Nice mess it was, all over my hand Laugh

The moldings don't have anything to do with sealing the glass to the body. Get somebody to help you and get a light and lay down in the floor and let them run the hose on the elky and see if you can nail down where it is actually coming in. Once you know that for sure it will make it easier to recommend a fix.

Not sure if this is your problem but I just pulled the carpet on my 86 and saw some rust staining where the floor boards meet the firewall on the passenger side. Took my grinder to it and there were holes all along that seam. Not huge and not difficult to repair. The remainder of the floor was like brand new. Might be because of that damn seam sealer GM used.

My '75 had leaks from the heater core, windscreen, a drilled hole in the metalwork behind the RHS kick panel and seams in the firewall. That was just from the front.

I would recommend pulling the seat/s and the carpet to check out what the overall state of the floor is.
