There are published reports of 420 1988 El Caminos being produced and 325 1988 GMC Caballeros being produced.
Many enthusiasts believe these are left over 1987 models, and not 1988 El Caminos/Caballeros.
Does anyone own, or know someone who owns a 1988 El Camino or GMC Caballero? I'd like to get the VIN from a couple of these vehicles so I can check the 10th digit of the VIN to see if it is an "I", or something other than an "H", for model year designation. "H" is the 1987 model year designation in the VIN.
