Hi,
I did a search and didn't see this question come up. I am in process of swapping a 200-4R Overdrive into my '79. I have remade the crossmember, installed driveshaft, and got the floor shift, etc hooked up. I also know I have to get an electronic shift controller for this application. What I have run into now is that the transmission lines are not going to work. Does anyone know of a source for the appropriate lines? Was the automatic overdrive that came in some of the later elkys the 200-4R, or the 700R4?

Bend up your own new lines, use old lines and modify with short sections of flexible neoprene line and clamps, or use braided stainless steel line from trans to radiator/cooler. In any case you need lines/hose that is oil resistant and good upto 300psi and 300F. Shouldn't be a big problem.

Check out www.Inlinetube.com

Look under "Brake and Fuel Lines". They sell a set of OEM tranny lines for the 200-4r for $45. They also have a set of stainless lines for $75. Look under the Monte Carlo section for the 200-4r lines because they don't list the 200-4r lines under the El Camino section.

The 700r4 never came in the 5th gen El Camino. The 200-4r was available in 85-87.
