Yo dudes, is there a page here that would give a good view of the grill for each year Elky? I have an '80, there's a 0 in my vin, but I think somebody put a '78 grill on it. I bought a custom grill from El Camino Store for $140 and it doesn't fit. It's only for '80 and up. I also need help with the paint process for base/clear spraying, if I can find it.

I can't help you with the identification question, but I found this site when looking for some help and ideas for body and paint work. A lot of good tips!!
I'm learning the best way to learn is by doing. I'm working on my 4th or 5th painting project and each one is a learning process. I think the end results are getting better, but there is always some level of frustration. Maybe it is because I'm striving for better each time!
The work you do before you start painting is the most important part. You can fix the little things, sags, dust nibs, orange peel ect... well at least make them look pretty good. But being able to see all the little imperfections that will show later is the hardest thing to learn. Patience!! It always takes longer to get it right than it seems it should.

We will be wet sanding our clear coat tomorrow. The weather man says it should be perfect! If it goes well, we will clean the garage and shoot the final couple coats of clear this weekend! We are waiting on a rear bumper and a few other things to do as well. We are planning to shoot the grill and trim black, we haven't started those at all.

Thanx fellas. I appreciate the replies, I'm going to check them out now. And yes I totally agree that the prep work is the most important. I have been working on the body every couple days for the last month. Sucks that it's in a garage 15 miles away, but it'll be worth it when I'm done. The car cought fire 1 1/2 years ago, and I've been working on it the last year.
There really isn't that much filler in the car, but the last time I tried to paint it, I didn't have any DA sanders at all. It's turning out pretty well and I'm hoping to spray the high solids primer tomorrow. I've got the body pretty straight, to the point that you can barely feel any riple or difference at all. I'm going to spray a couple coats mixed for high build and block it out. This is where you use the glazing right? And what is the best type of wood to use for blocking? We all know how damn big and fairly flat these fenders are. And I'd hate to have any ripples, they look like hell.
Now for a question of color,,,,,, silver with big black SS stripes, yellow with or without big black SS stripes or red withSS stripes? lol Very tough decission huh?! lol
