im needing some help here.. ive already bought new carpet to put in the El Camino.. but my problem is i get some EXTREME HEAT in the interior i think its because the headers are so close to the fire wall, i talked to the original owner and they said they didnt have the problem with the heat there until they installed the headers, so now i got this EXTREME amount of heat comng up, is there anything i can put down under the carpet to limit this heat?? or am i pretty much jus screwed, ive thought about putting that wrap stuffs on the headers but i didnt know ifn that would help that much or not, do ya'll have any suggestions??

thanx..

John

You could try fabbing up some heat shields to install on the lower part of the firewall. There is also some heat padding that goes under the carpet too. It's the same stuff used on the passenger side floor to prevent heat from coming into the int. from the cat. conv. It's got a foil backing to it.

There are several companies making highly efficient (ie good yet thin) heat shielding materials you might can use to make something up.

Two of them are:

KoolMat

Thermo-Tec
