No a relay is not like a fuse. A relay is an electricly operated switch used to operate something that sucks up alot of amperage. Example of this is that I use a very small switch to cut the power to my ignition. This switch can not handle the amperage needed for the ignition, it would fry immediately, so I ran the power from the switch to a relay which is rated for much higher amps and it actually controls the power going to my ignition.
