Can anyone think of something I can put on exposed threads to keep moisture out? I was thinking along the lines of plasti-dip or the stuff machine shops dip cutting tools in after they have been sharpened. Something I could easily pick/peel off if the bolt had to be removed. I'd love to just keep my car dry all the time but it's my daily driver. Any ideas?

I'll see what works. I'm thinking mainly of saving the square holes in my bumpers, they can't handle alot of torque from difficult bolts. _________________ -AC

I've used the Permatex disc brake lube grease (it's a thick synthetic) with a good deal of success. I just put a thin bead along the bolt and then run the nut down to spread it.
The water-resistant grease you use for things like boat trailer wheel bearings (available pretty much anywhere that has boat stuff - I bought my last tube from the local Wal-Mart) would probably also work pretty well.
The only problem with a grease solution is that sometimes trash gets stuck in the grease, so you need to give it a quick wipe before unscrewing, but as long as you remember to do that it should work well. _________________ Lionel (Chip) Burnette
