You can get decent performance out of a 350. 400 horsepower is not uncommon and considerably cheaper to build/buy. You have to factor in that none of your accessories will bolt up(p/s pump brackets, alt. bracket, water pump,ect.). I see that your in LA California. You might want to check your emissions laws there as I recall California is tough.

Welcome to ECC David!

Installing a 502 in a 5th gen Elky would be fun to do only if you have very deep pockets and unlimited resources.

The 502 would need a $tronger tranny and a much more $turdy rear end than the 7.5" in your 85. Throw in a new 3" exhau$t with flowma$ter$ and a $et of header$. Hell, might as well top off the 502 with a new $hiny blower $s$tem too.

A good friend of mine just finished putting one in his 70 Nova. So far he's got well over $10K into the drive train.

The pros are: It'll be a heck of a lot more fun to drive!

The cons are: It'll cost you an arm and a leg, and you'll probably flunk your smog nazi emissions tests.

My $.02

Mr. Green
