Just bought a roll of "Metal Repair Tape" made by 3M. Tape is 1 1/2 inches by 15 feet long. Found it in a Myers Store in Indy for $2.99. It was in the automotive area.

That's pretty much the same thing I used in my interior. Can't beat it!

I replaced mine with curly birdseye maple to match the rest of my interior accents.

We have used duct tape (the original aluminum duck tape) for years on our models. Use a piece of shaped wood and burnish it on for the bumpers and any other trim you want. Hit it with a clean soft cloth and it shines right back up like chrome, and it is thin aluminum. It's also about 1 1/2 wide.
