Will the heater only unit bolt right up to the air conditioner opening in the firewall? What years will work in the '79 elky? There is a wrecking yard near me that has several old chevelles. Would one of those work?
I have decided not to put a heater only unit in and have opted for an A/C unit. But thanks for all your posts.

The heater is part of the HVAC system and If your intention is to remove the large AC evaporator/heater core assembly at the right side of the firewall you will have to use non OEM parts and probably make a prettty complicated retrofit.
