I'm trying to replace my heater core and I'm having trouble removing the heater box to get to it. All the bolts are out and it's loose but I can't remove it. There is one screw I can see sticking out on the engine side of the firewall that I think is holding the heater core. I can't see how to get to it thought because it's from inside the heater box. Is this really what's holding it on, how do I get to it?

Yea it's hidden behind the box and I can't pull the box out far enough to get to it, there's got to be some trick. It's actually more toward the center of the dash so I don't think I will have to pull the glove box or anything.
There are no bolts behind the box. Make sure you have all the bolts on the firewall out. There is one bolt from the inside at the very top to the right of center. The box sometimes is a little stubborn coming loose from the firewall.

Yup, that was it, it was just being stubborn. I put some muscle into it and it finally came out. I even got payed to do the job...somehow a nickel had made it's way into the box.
Anyway, after taking an old toothbrush and some warm water/soap to the caked on dust I installed the new heater core and reattached the box to the firewall. What a workout...I hope I never have to do that again. lol
