Do I understand this board correctly that an LT1 is easier swap than an LS1?
Reason I ask is that there's one offered locally -- LT1 plus 4L60E teansmission. Sounds like just what I need....

It's a little eaiser. You don't have to notch the crossmember or modify the oil pan to get the motor to fit, also standard Elky headers will work with an LT1, an LS1 will need custom or stock manifolds.
Much of it is the same; new tranny support, fuel system upgrades, programming the PCM, etc. But the LT1 is more then enough for an Elky. Traction is a problem The extra HP that you get from an LS1 will just spin your tires more. _________________ '82 El Camino with an LT1 from a 95 Impala SS
Well I did it, bought the LT1
Just too good a deal as it comes with a 4L60E transmission and all the engine accessories and the computer and wiring harness, plus the manual for the 94 Roadmaster the engine came out of. The guy had been through the wiring harness, using that manual to figure what is needed for fuel injection and cleaned out some extraneous wires. Glad I got the book to double check his work.
So now it's time to line up the rest of the stuff--fuel tank sender and pump and all. The game is afoot. Sure glad we've got this board for advice.

Just keep remembering the ultimate goal.... roasting your tires and you'll get through it. _________________ '82 El Camino with an LT1 from a 95 Impala SS
This week's fun is doublechecking what the last guy did to the wiring harness
and building a shopping list
electric fan, shifter, drive shaft, electric speedo....
