--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Folks,

Looking for a little help. I'm putting on a new a/c compressor this weekend but before I do I need to get the ventillation system working. I only get air out of the bottom blower. Nothing from the side vents. When I slide the controls back and forth from heat to a/c it still only blows out the bottom. It appears that the blower motor is working as when I turn the setting to high fan I can here really spinning. Is there anywhere to get a diagram on the guts underneath the dash ? Hope this is the right place to post this. I'm still fairly new here. Its a 76 Elky with a 305.

Thanks,

Davo

OK First look under the hood on the firewall. There is a cluster where the ac hoses and the dryer meet. Look for one or two thin vacuum hoses coming out of there and make sure they are hooked up and in good condition with no cracks or crumbling. Also check all and every other vacuum hose all over the motor. Once you are sure there are no leaks (if there are your motor will let you know too by rough idle and loss of power) if still no air coming out of dash registers then you will need to look at the dash ac/heat controls. There is vacuum tree behind it wich in some cases can be pulled out and inspected with a flashlight and contorting yourself under the dash ! Happily, 99% of the time its under the hood those hoses rot first. Good luck !
