I got my engine pulled yesterday with the help of my son (great father-son time).... (motor is 77 305 out of c10 truck)

I had to go to the hardware store to buy new bolts, the ones i had were the wrong size...

I bought the correct size 3/8 thread but the length was too long by 1/2 inch and didn't fit snug enough to hold it......

My question is: Are grade 8 bolts the strongest bolts to use on engine stands?

Ray

i think its 10.9 is the highest, someone please correct me if im wrong. BUT...grade 8 is more than enough to hold any engine that came in a production chevy.

Here is a good chart to keep regarding bolts and various grades.

Grade 10.9 = Grade 8 because grade 10.9 is for metric hardware.
