i just picked up a pair of 86-87 ss sport mirrors and i want to make the drivers side non remote so when i get my new door panels made i won't have that cord to deal with plus i never use it. Is it even possible? Do they sell one or glass and bracket for one thats non remote? anybody else done this? Any help will be useful im kinda lost
yea i did but the tension from the cables actually make the mirror stay in place when adjusted as of now its real loose the ony way i can think to fix it is to get it where i want it then glue it in place anybody else have any ideas?

You could make a small rubber block to slide under the mirror. It would not be noticable but hold the mirror in place. _________________ 78 Camino SS, 355,built 700r4,3.23

I'm pretty sure I saw the sport mirror in either remote or non-remote in one of the catalogs......ECS or NPD I think......
Or I could just be getting old.......
you could also just coil up the cable and secure it inside the door......the escutcheon comes right off.
Good luck _________________ Never forget 9-11

Could you mash the cable with a large pair if vice grips, increasing the tension on the inside ? How about heating the cable and melting a bunch of solder into it?
simple solution...
I cut the cables, then got in the drivers seat with some cardboard peices and a 2 part epoxy glue.
I tested before i applied glue, then I put the glue and stuckit. as my girlfriend held the mirror tight, i slid the folded cardboard peices in four places to hold it in place. i drove it until the cardboard fell out(the next day), and my mirror is functional. and im ready for panels.
let me know if that did or did not help.
