hi

own a '74 elky,
want to remove the a/c box completely since I don't use it, and have easier access to the rear end of the engine for maintenance.

anyone ever done this????

Also wonder what's the use of the thing ( sender?) which is located on the left side of the box, into the bracket of the vacuum cannister, which has two wire attached to it, a green and a green/white.

Can I swap the 'plate ' from a non a/c car on mine or maybe make one myself? Will I still have fresh air or only heat?

I removed mine from my '75 and installed an American Graffiti delete box. http://americangraffiti.biz/
With this you can get rid of the A/C and still use the heater.

hi,

looks great, but a bit expensive....will think 'bout it.

do you still have fresh outside air into the car, or only heat?

where did you leave the resistor-block from the fan?
and the sender i was asking, do you know what's the use of it?

Fresh outside air? That is what windows are for. Are you asking if the AC will still funtion after you remove the box? No it will not, only your heater. The resister/relay are reinstalled on the box. I'm not sure what sender you are talking about, maybe fan speed controller? I'm not really too up on the AC components, which is one of the reasons why I deleted it.
