Anybody out there installed Edelbrocks pro-flo fuel injection before? I'll be putting it on my 87 this weekend. Ive removed all emission stuff in the past so I'll be replacing a carburated,HEI induction. The kit looks very complete and easy but time consuming to install. The infinate adjustability looks a little intimidating. I know there is a ton of knowledge on this site so I like to ask before I leap to prevent unwanted surprises. YEA, It is pretty cool looking and hopefully runs as good as it looks. I just hope my wife never finds the reciept! I didn't see the links you mentioned in your post. Thanks _________________ 78 project car and 87 G-Machine.

I'm preparing to do the same to my '85 el with low miles goodwrench 5.7 engine. What engine do you have to start with?
I'm looking at summit & JEGS. Where did you buy yours?
Edelbrock EFI tech and a local engine builder say it is an easy component to instal and easier than a carburated system to set up. We'll see.
At first, the 2K$ price tag seemed prohibitive but after researching cost and hastle of swapping in a LT1 or LS1, I decided to take this route especially because I have a good base engine to start with.
PS: edelbrock EFI tech says EDL 2102 cam makes a good combination with this EFI.
Looking forward to hearing how yours performs. (acceleration & economy) Will have to wait 'til Spring to try mine. _________________ They think I'm going through my second childhood but I'm not through my first one yet.

I edited the links above. The style sheet for the site doesn't do a good job of marking links in posts. I should start using bold links. _________________ Regards,

Wild bill,
I got mine out of Summit. I have the original 305 but I rebuilt it and added S/R tqr heads,roller- rockers, long tube headers, performer rpm manifold and edelbrock 600 carb. Cam is a comp cam X-treme 256. With a 2200 stall converter and 700R4 with 3.50(Ford9inch) gears this combo is very impressive. I estimate 300hp and decent milage>17 mpg hiway.
I'm tired of messing with jet changes when the weather changes or in hi altitude, choke adjustments etc. I'm looking forward to the improved cold startup, throttle response and milage. My converter is a non lockup so I plan on changing it back lo a lockup for milage and lower heat buildup.I'll keep you posted on how it turns out. I'm jealous too.
If enough of you guys all buy one the price will come down to the point I can afford one as well.
I can only dream of how trick that would look on top of one of my Rat motors. _________________ 70 Elky (Non-SS) 454CID, TH700-R4

With the help of a of friend we installed a Proflo system a couple of weeks ago on a 1981 Corvette with a 383 and 700R4 trans. The end result was very impressive straight out of the box the performance was out standing really woke the car up. Low end torque is out standing. There are a couple of issues that you will need to address but nothing that can not be over come. The first one is standard for all fuel injection and that is your fuel sending unit will need a provision for a fuel return line, do not try to use the fuel vent fitting that runs to the charcoal canister that fitting does not go all the way into the tank and will atomize the fuel and probably leak. Second like I said the Corvette has a 700R4 with a lock up converter since the proflo does not have provision to control the torque converter through a VSS you will have to get a vacuum activation switch and install it in the transmission to make it work right. Also there may be some issues with mounting your throttle bracket to the proflo manifold we had to re-engineer ours not a big deal but still a pain if your expecting a bolt on system. Having installed a Chevy TPI on my 83 I'm pretty partial to the TPI system. The TPI has some distinct advantages such as it is pure Chevy, parts are every where, it is much less expensive over all, it is no more difficult to install and you can get just as good results, it is compatible with the 700R4, 350, and 2004R. But if you think you want to go with the Proflo from our experience go for it you will not be disappointed. The programming feature is very involved but not necessary unless you plan to run different programs such as track / street and what ever, under normal situations once you get your chip from the company your ready to set the timing, idle and off you go. The rest of the programming stuff is just additional tinkering and may or may not be worth the effort.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I wont be disappointed when its done. You bring up a good point about the throttle bracket, I forgot all about that. I have an aftermarket piece on it now and I am hoping since its on an edelbrock carb it will fit right on the edelbrock throttle body. Thanks for the headsup!! _________________ 78 project car and 87 G-Machine.

I'm anxious to hear your results. Have you had a chance to test drive yet? I have gotten off schedule with my EFI project due to problems with the car's interior. Still hope to have it ready for "opening day" when the snow is gone. _________________ They think I'm going through my second childhood but I'm not through my first one yet.
Not yet, I have made the mods to my jaz fuel cell and mounted the pump/filter. When I get really busy at work it ends up being my daily driver, so down time is a problem. I will run the harness and get everything installed except the manifold and then try to make the swap on a weekend. Hopefully everything fires right up and is roadworthy from the start. I did have to purchase the edelbrock adj throttle cable bracket and it is definantly worth the 25 bucks. its part #8031. Keep me posted on your progress. _________________ 78 project car and 87 G-Machine.

Harald: I don't understand. Can you explain a little more? Is this a difficult procedure?
Progress report: Preliminarys complete. Ready to start bolting the intake on. The wiring harness poking through the firewall looks pretty intimidating to me. Hope I can figure out where everything goes. _________________ They think I'm going through my second childhood but I'm not through my first one yet.

Early riser, Bill? You'll figure it out. Be patient.
On a lock up converter the transmission has a electrical connection that is activated to lock it. I have seen methods for doing that posted on ECC. Try a search if you need information on it. _________________ Regards,
