Here is the number on the tag at the base of the windshield (is it the cowl tag?) Can someone decode this for me? Thanks!

Hi Kris,
1GCCW80H4ER149644

1 = USA
G = General Motors
C = Chevrolet Truck
C = 4,001 - 5,000 lbs
W = El Camino
80 = Body Type of 2-Dr. Pickup Delivery
H = engine of type of V-8, option of LG4, carb is 4BC, CID of 305,
4 = check digit??? Not sure..
E = indentifies the model year, 1984
R = assembly plant of Arlington, TX
149644 = represent the basci production number

Not totaly sure of that 9th digit or what it is used for. This is just what I can find in the ID numbers book.

I'm sure others will clarify for you. This might at least get you in the ball park.

Hey, thanks man! The 9th digit is 4, I thought it meant either 4th month of the year or 1984. Dunno. Thanks for the help!
