need a steering arm (pass side) for 72 el camino. it connects to the spindle assembly, and it appears that no newly manuf parts exist. so, NOS or reconditioned would be okay to stop this dar from pigeon toeing.

thanks,

If you are talking about the tie-rods yes they are made, try your local parts place and ask for Moog. In fact all the moving parts are available, i.e. tie-rods, tie-rod adjusting sleeve, pitman arm, idler arm, center link, upper control arm bushings, lower control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints and sway bar bushing kits. That is about all there is. If you need the upper A frame and/or lower A frame, they are made after market. Try this web site http://www.p-s-t.com/gm/gmfekpgs.html for the good stuff.

having looked at this website and a catalog from late last year in oldmusclecars.com, the part # and description reads as follows:

3954878 STEERING ARM RH 69-72

when i spoke with them this part was stocked upon availability as only a USED part. however, they are not stocking much (if any) in the way of parts like this any longer.

now, i have looked at a spindle assembly #329350 for 73-77 app, and GM did away with the steering arm and incorporated use into this part. thus eliminating some other parts from '72 including the steering arm. i was wondering if anyone knew that this spindle would work on a '72.

ideally, the steering arm would be the way to go, so the car can roll again. also, anyone out there with info on salvage yards that may specialize in chevelle/elcamino parts would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again...

You are in need of a Moog es406r. Your local parts house should have that in stock, and if not be able to order it in a day's time. If you were to come into my store I would sell it for $55.59.

Moog es406r is a tie rod end. I did some more thinking, if you are looking for the forging that bolts to the back of the spindle (axle) that the tie rod connects to, I have some and would be able to send digital pics if you want.

thanks mox........i did some investigating on that part as well after reading your post. definitely a tie rod end. please send me some pics of what you have as described, and i will compare it with the diagram/schematic i have. then i can go from there...i could even scan the diagram in and provide it to you as far as the location etc., and possibly snap a digpic or 2 of current problem.

Buy the tie-rod (and if need the other part) FROM MOX-CT. Thumbs Up

After all, to start he did take the time to actually lookup the MOOG info. Second, he is in businesss!! Cool

Pay th $55 and the few bucks for shipping. Pay for other part if it is needed. Confused

Remember, a] will come to your door step = saving GAS!! Happy And b] NO Sales Tax! Poke Tounge

It's a wash. Poke Tounge

P.M. him, Dennis! Cool

After all, most Boards and most List Owner/Operators prohibit businesses from doing business On List/On Board. Shocked Cool

Thanks for the kind words. I'm not in business, however I am restoring a 72 and just happen to have picked up some extra parts. I bought two frames, both with all the front end parts. Of course I don't need all of them and would be willing to sell some parts at a reasonable rate. I'll try to get the digital pics tomorrow, sorry I was busy today.
