Nope, you're hosed just like the rest of us. With Arnolds law exemption stopped at 76 and nothing newer will be exempt. Now if we get a new governor soon who knows what he/she may do.

BTW all caps is considered shouting.

Poor guys, I escaped Kali. in '89 for Nevada.

Probably saved my life, I cannot understand how anyone can bear to reside in that socialist state.

I had to change out my water pump a couple of days ago.
The #%*&@$ smog pump "fell off" in the process, it did not fall back on!
I have no worries as we have ZERO smog checks in most of Nevada.

Next up is Edelbrock FI and a mild cam.
I just have to figure out which hoses I have to block or reroute from the smog bomb (charcoal canister) so as to not create back pressure or vapor leaks.

So everything from 1976-2007 has to be checked, right? Does pre-1975 get off free?

Pre-1976 (1975 and earlier) needs no smog test in California. This is a fixed exemption date; it won't automaticly move as time goes by. To change this date requires legislation, which isn't too likely to happen.

That's not going to happen. The Gov locked it so that 76 and newer have to be smogged forever. Unless we get a different Gov and he/she changes the law plan on smogging your 78 for as long as you own it or you live in Calif.

If the smog thing with the cars and most other Air Polution controls had went the way that a lot of people think, the air and the harbors along the SoCal coast would be thick enough to cut or walk on. If you don't think so your not old enough or to young to really know what good changes have been made. I do admit that a lot of it is BS and made to line a lot of pockets. I was there from 47 to 95 and back every year. Things are a lot better know than the 60's and 70's. It could be worse, I would worry more about the ETHONAL FUEL PROBLEMS THAN THE SMOG CHECK.

California has a bill in the Senate right now, that will require ANNUAL smog checks. More info

I'm glad i'm in south ga. we don't yet have much if any enforcement of smog control here. That doesn't mean it won't happen sooner than i would like. I know i read somewhere just a day or two ago that most commercial jets put out as much co2 emissions in one trip as several hundred cars do in the cource of a mounth. Is anybody tellin the airlines they have to control there output of c02?? If they are you don't here a lot about it. Why is it that commercial products are always last on the list when there usually the worst offenders?? Guess it's like the saing goes "THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GET POORER". AND EVERY TIME A RICH MAN WAGES WAR A POOR MAN PAYS!! I'm going to stop now before i get on a rant!!
