I have a 78 El Camino Conquista with a 305 V-8. Can anyone tell me what tranny it has 350/400? It is a 3 speed automatic. If 350 is this a good tranny? Will it hold up with a 350HP V8 with a 2100 stall converter. Thanks guys......... _________________ J.C.

Unless it's been swapped out at one time, it should be the th350. To check, one corner of the trans pan will be "cut off". If built right, it should hold up to what you have in mind just fine. I had mine rebuilt for $477 to handle 350 HP. I don't have 350HP though, just planning ahead _________________ 1978 El Camino Conquista/SS, F-41 suspension, 350/T5/3:73

Odds are it's a TH350C, a lock up trans. They suck they have a band for 2nd and those damn things burn up pretty quick. Just look and see if there's a plug on the driver side, if there is it's a lock up, if not it'sn't. _________________ Why don't four cylinders ever want to race a truck?
