The LT1 is basically a slightly modified standard chevy small block. Many parts are the same or basically similar. IE same oil pan.

The LT1 has some quirks depending on the car it's from. The acessories are LT1 only and come in a couple different arrangements.

The B-body (caprice) is the easiest to find and generally the cheapest. The Acessories do not fit though. The F-body(camaro-firebird) acessories will fit. You just leave off one bracket between the compressor and engine mount and use a different header on the AC compressor. The Y-body(Corvette) should also fit.

Now the best thing ot do is to find a deal on the drivetrain you want. Then if it's a B-body you can buy a couple parts for ~$150 and convert your acessories to F-body style.

Little about the LS1 is a drop in. The engine mounts are goofy. None of the oil pans will clear. You will either have to notch your frame (really bad idea) or cut your oil pan and have it rewelded. It is aluminum so you need someone that can do that. Now a guy I know did a very nice LS1 conversion on his Monte and he sells some of the speical swap parts that are needed. IE the oil pan engine mounts and parts to put a standard in too. (I hate standards)

Im putting an ls1 and 4l60e into an 80. You need custom mounts, custom trans x member, modified oil pan. Thats the easy part. The most difficult part is the fuel system especially if your coming from a carb setup. Rock valley may offer a tank to simplify things. I have a thread going on ls1tech. It fits pretty well, only clearence issue so far is the heater box but I knew that going in. Do lots of research if your serious about it. You will need to modify the wiring harness and have the PCM reprogrammed too. If you want pics I can post some up, In fact here you go.
