I have a 1973 custom el camino with a 350 v8.
I recently had a heater control valve go bad, Not a problem. However getting the damn valve off the block is causeing me a world of pain. The valve seems to have fused with the engine block. I am inquiring if there are any ways in which to make possible the removal of the heater control valve.

The best luck I have had through the years was to cut it off just above the hex and use a 6 point socket and an impact (the jarring seems to help - just go easy on the trigger). An open end wrench , as you have probably found out, just rounds the corners off.
