We have a new water filtration system! The new unit has a unique valve in the head of the canister allowing you to switch between filtered and unfiltered water. The new system also uses a 10,000 gallon dionization filter which is far superior to the old resin type used before. For those with our previous canister system the new dionization filter is compatible!
it's so when you change the coolant in your el you will have less contamination in the water so your cooling system stay's cleaner longer _________________ it's mine it's paid for and i'll smoke them if i want to

Ok, I can see that, I use distilled water for my coolant system now and don't have rust or scale issues. I see the unit is about 100 bucks and the filters are about 27 bucks which seems reasonable.
But I'm less concerned with minerals than I am calcium hardness. Where I live we get our water from diverted Colorado River water which is very, very hard like over 700ppm. How well will it take care of that. Out here it's the calcium that makes the water spots.
I tried the MR. Clean car wash thing and it worked ok but the filter only lasted about two car washes before it needed to be changed.
So how does this compare on those issues??

The Mr. Clean filter is far less efficient than this larger dionizing filter. This unit will do very good job of filtering calcium and other minerals, it's a laboratory grade unit so it's very efficient.
Of course it will last much longer than the tiny Mr. Clean filter but I can't tell you exactly how long because it all depends on water hardness. With average harness the filter lasts about 10,000 gallons but it could be as low as 1,000 or even less if the water is extremely hard. _________________ Leo
