Hello. My 1970 El Camino has a bad rag joint. All the hardware looks good but the flexible "rag part" is torn and causing everything to be real loose. Car swerves all over the place when I turn to the right. Can I just replace the torn piece, or do I have to get a complete rag joint? Is this a repair that has to be done with special tools? It looks like an easy fix to me as long as I don't have to pull the steeing column out. My car is a 350, automatic trans and has power steering. Has anyone made this repair? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jimbo.

You can buy a replacement rag joint kit. I believe the two hardest things were getting the old joint off. And then grinding off the head of a couple rivit looking couplers. Other then that its pretty easy. the kit will come with replacement bolts.
