Does anyone have info on putting a LS1 and 4L60E into a 5th gen? I currently have a '85 TPI 350 and 350 A\T in my '81 El with all the Factory wiring and computer system. It's getting a little long in the tooth and I would like to update with an LS1 from another Camaro or T\A. Cool site here and thanks for any info! _________________ Jim DeHan, Sr.

You will need to notch the oil pan or the front cross member for clearance. Also I've seen where the passenger side head at the rear will hit the blower box. Do a search here and you will find a number of threads. Also take a look at http://www.montecarloss.com/ls1montecarloss/ the problems John had getting the motor in would be the same for your Elky. _________________ '82 El Camino with an LT1 from a 95 Impala SS

Thanks for the info so far guy's. I'm still driving the TPI motor and it runs fine, just smokes a little in the a/m. I figure I'll do some more research while I wait to find the right deal on a wrecked T/A or Camaro, or maybe a truck 6.0. Keep the faith, Elky's forever!!! _________________ Jim DeHan, Sr.
