I recently pulled this tranny out of 1994 1500 GMC pickup 4.3 litre. has anyone heard or now anything about installing this on a big block 396? I'm pretty sure this is a NV3500 5-speed and its a far cry from the T-5 i thought it might be but who knew. _________________ There is no replacement for displacement

they're a PITA to rebuild, and are not that popular. a 396 won't take long to shred it, but then again not many stock trannys are up to that. _________________

Those trans dont last long behind a 4.3 if beaten on a lot, a 396 will definately kill it the first time its floored and get any traction. The NV4500 is the heavy duty version but its huge.
