I picked up an 87 Grand national rear axle, and will be putting it into my 86 El Camino. I need to know how much to shorten the driveshaft. If I recall, I read somewhere that it needed to be shortened 1". Is this correct? As an alternative, would I be able to use the driveshaft from a Grand national, or would it need to be modified as well?
Thanks!

Yes, one inch is correct. The GN driveshaft is too short because the El Camino wheelbase is longer.
