Anytime the 12 volts is applied it will try and down shift. If you hook a hot to it all the time I think you will be having difficulty with REAL late shifts. just a little tongue in cheek. sorry
You need a switch that the throttle linkage activates when you go down on it. _________________ 84 Elky with 455 Buick, Tremec TKO600 5 speed, 8.5 3:42 posi -

on the accelerator pedal assembly the th400 kick down switch is mounted
i have a couple laying here somewhere around here from vehicle part outs over the years, some had a th400 in them, the latest one was an 87 c-10 pickup with the 3L80HD
400 pan and case but with 27 spline output, LJA tag code, i am keeping the trans for a future use of some kind, some day, we put one of these from an 88 into a 73 short step pickup that had a th350 9" tail in it, i happened to have a driveshaft from a 74 ventura with th350 6" tail that i scrapped that was 3" shorter to work in it haha
good luck _________________ Randy

it would be better to just get the switch i dont think there much. run one wire from the fuse box and one to a ground and then there is the little connection on the side of the tranny that the last wire hooks to its really symple and then the switch just mounts right up under the pedal
