hey guys , im still on my quest for a better gear than the 2.41 in my 85 elky. i,ve read a few post on other sights about getting a rear carrier from a s10 pickup..well i have found several s10's but im not sure whats involved in the swap.im wanting a 3.08 or lower and i cant find any g-body cars that i can just swap the rear ends out so im thinking about the s10 now...im needing a "how to" with pics maybe or articals explaining what i'll need and how its done. im not afaid to get my hands dirty but i do need some direction on how to complete this project...thanks

I think your a bit confused about what you can and can't do...or maybe I am. A complete S10 rearend will not swap into a G-body, in order to use the gears from the S10 rearend, it would have to be completely disassembled, it does not come out as a unit and just swap right in. If your plan is to just find and use the gears and/or posi unit out of 7.5" rearend...that's fine just keep in mind that the rearend needs to be set up correctly or you will wear the gears out in a very short time. I'm not saying don't attempt this, but you should get a book showing you step by step instuctions and what tools you'll need to do it.

well im having trouble finding to info on how to swap the gears and what i'd need to do it..every time i ask someone about a rear end for my car they just say why dont i get the gears and carrier out of a s10. well i would love to do just that but im needing a little more info ..
