Am having a hard time finding a fuel sending unit for my 83 Elky.
If was an original 6 cyl. car with a 17 gal tank.
Having not pulled the tank yet I am guessing that it is a 2 outlet sending unit.
Having said that, I have found at auto zone a fuel sending unit for a 83 Malibu that is for a 6 cyl. with two outlets.
Does anyone know if this sending unit will work in the Elky?
Hopefully someone has done this fix and knows.
Here is a link to the one I have found for a Malibu:

Thanks,
Mike

Mike , if the tank on your 83 is the same as my 82 it has an angled dome that the sender mounts on. The one you're looking at is for a flat top tank.It may fit the tank if you mod the locating tabs, but it wont read right and you'll have about a 25% reserve.

$80 is about right for a foreign made repro, EC store has them a little cheaper, Just don't try to get a FI one for that price! The 87 22 gallon tank with 3 lines and fuel pump wires is over $400 from GM and cheapest I have seen lately is $275. They are not yet made aftermarket (not sure if they ever will be since there ain't too many 87's with 4.3 and 22 gal tank I guess

Original G.M. sending units are also available at www.opgi.com . Are the originals any better than the reproductions?
