Hello Folks,

I am replacing the air conditioning parts on my 1984 El Co. I am down to the final piece and I can't locate it to replace it. The orifice tube, does anyone out there have experience replacing this piece? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ron

Remove the nut and separate the lines at the red arrow. look inside the part going to the evaporator and you will see the end of it. take a pair of needle nose and pull it out. Notice which end is toward you as it comes out. Make sure you get the new one turned the right way.

Thanks for the tip,

My system is set up a little different, I will take a look at the tube from to evaporator to the accumulator drier. I hope the orifice tube is there and I can get the system start blowing cold air. I will keep you posted.

Thanks,

Ron

I disconnected the nut and there was nothing inside. Maybe this is the reason I am not getting cold air. If you have an idea of which end goes in first, I will try to insert it. In looking at the orifice itself it looks to be much smaller in diameter that the hose you pointed out. I have pictures of my system but was unable to upload them, I will keep trying

Thanks Much,

I know exactly where that tube is I opened it up and it started to spewing out a oily foamy liquid. I put it back together and kept looking elsewhere, thinking I had opened something I shouldn't have. I will jump on it next Saturday morning, thanks for the help and I will keep you posted on the outcome. Hopefully cool cruising is just around the corner.

Once I got the info on how to do the job it was an eazy-breezy task, so that part of the job is done. I am evacuating the system as we speak and hope to recharge later. Thanks once more for the help, no better site, and no better members to be found.
