ok so i got an 82 i just bought with a dual headlight kit, my electrical harness to the light switch just melted down, im awsuming its due to the dual headlight conversion, before i got and fix the problem and catch my car on fire again, lol, i need to know if theres a way to fix or if i just have to replace the harness with an 86 elky.
I'm assuming you converted from a single high/low beam headlights (2 headlights) to separate high and low beam lighting (4 lights). You said this was a kit? What is included in the kit?
Where exactly did the wiring burn? The head light switch has an internal circuit breaker that should have had your lights going on and off. Was the headlight switch damaged?
To properly diagnose what where your problem is it is important to know where the wiring failed and we must have an exact diagram of how you wired the lights up.

well the only problem is i bought it with the kit but it melted in the cab in the harness goin to the light switch so that surcuit breaker thing kinda failed, but it has the same wiring as the 86 elky does for instance if i turn the high beams on all 4 turn on, but this problem arouse with only low beam, i was wondering could the fact that the running light have 2 more bulbs added on the surcuit cause it to fail, the wires for the headlights and grounds are intack i just had a green little wire get creamed
