Dynamat finally finished....PICTURE

Well, I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel------------first the shop stripped the floor---built the new seat brackets, POR 15nd where necessary, and finished it in primer---now the dynamat is done----just need to paint the interior parts and install the carpet......

Pete, I missed when you posted this up. I checked out the pics. That looks nice and tidy.

Dynamat is available here in OZ and by mail order but it is so expensive due to it's weight and the cost to ship. I went with a metalised material a mate who is in the refrigeration industry gave me. It is lightweight stuff but I supplemented with an underfelt too.

Thanks for the compliment!!!!!-it did come out pretty nice----but this Dynamat is pretty pricey----not sure i would use it again---once i got started i realized I was gonna go broke with this stuff--lol

Dcar----I went overboard---I did the smugglers box, the doors, every inch of the floor and under the quarter windows---and i do have enough left to do the roof------and it cost $550.00+ to do it--Now don't get me wrong, it looks great, and its very functional!!!!!! My friends and I have used the Dynamat in the past, and, I am a brand mame kinda guy, so this is what I have chosen to use again. Just remember, if you do yours, to put some on the inner skin of the doors----when you close your doors now you get a very hollow almost "tinny" sound when they are slammed closed---when you put a product like this on the inner skin it truly gives the door a solid sound like that of a high end import. To answer your question, Home Depot and Lowes sell an insulation material that wil do pretty much the same thing --- alot of the audiofiles use it---and it will cost less than half what this cost me------if you are going to go through this exercise, save the money and put those savings into performance items---BUT DEFINETLY DO IT IF YOU PLAN ON KEEPING THE CAR, YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY WITH THE END RESULT-----just my two cents ......

Pete, regarding the carpet, is it new and if so where did you purchase it. Is it near manufacture spec. Really hard to tell from the ads which is best!!

I shopped for the carpet and got a good deal from Steve over at DIXIE MONTE CARLO DEPOT

We have done a test fit and it all appears to fit perfectly---he has two choices--one with and one without the backing

i found the bulk packs (9 panels / 36 sq ft) on ebay and bought one for a $120; pretty cheap compare to other sources. the guy at dynamat said one bulk pack should be plenty for the floors, doors, and firewall.

any thoughts or recommendations would be great.

The one thing i learned is that you don't need to cover every square inch of the floor----I guess it depends on what you are looking for ---I wanted sound deadoning, but also wanted insulation for the a/c------i don't use the car in the winter--however it will be good to keep the a/c and heat in the cab........just make sure you put a few strips on the inside of the door skin--will get rid of the tinny sound when u close the door.
