Forum seems a little slow, so here's my post.
I just got my 66 back on the road. I've had it since 93 when I bought it to replace a truck that was stolen. It's a 300 Deluxe (originally with straight six and 3 on the tree). When I got it, there was a tired 327 installed.
First thing I did was install a Hurst floor shifter. The 3 on the tree couldn't find 1st gear. Then swapped the non-original bench with some buckets from a GTO. Reupholstered the seats, got new carpet (to replace the rubber floor mat) and new door panels. Unfortunately they didn't make the 300 deluxe replacements (Gold with cloth bench seat). It now has fawn upholstery with dash repainted Gold poly.
In 2000 I rebuilt a 402 BB for it and installed a 12 bolt rear.
Did most of the body work (still needs some minor help) and got tired of it for a while. Its been mostly sitting since I moved to AZ in 03.
This summer, a co-worker got me going on the project again. Just added a new Optima battery, and Goodrich TAs. It's still has the original 6 cyl springs. It sits so low the headers scrape going in and out of the driveway, had to add some spring boosters to raise it an inch.
Now I'm seriously thinking about finishing the paint. I may do it myself, but need to get educated about the new water base and low VOC paints.
Would like to go to some local cruises, but not much action now with the heat.

Hi Mark! Welcome to ECC and the AZ region. Nice looking project you have going. Yea, this forum has been a bit quiet lately. Maybe a get together later when the weather cools down? Good luck with your project. Lots of knowledge on this site. Dont be afraid to ask questions. You'll get plenty of help.

Hi guys, it is good to see a little chatter going on lately. I got an email from another local noobie named melman109. He and I both think everybody is staying really close to the A/C unit.
I went to my local cruise at Arizona and Ocotillo (Fulton Ranch Friday nights) about 2 weeks ago and 3 cars were there. Needless to say no one stayed long. I have not been to the Pavillions in a while but I think they are still seeing about 50 to 75 cars on Saturday nights. I noticed at the last cruise I went to that had decent attendance, about half the cars had antifreeze underneath them where they got hot on the way in
My Elky runs real cool in the heat and even though I have working A/C I hardly use it.
If you look back at the posts in this division you'll see I've tried to get some interest in everyone meeting up. I think me and Toms84SS almost made it to the same cruise in Mesa once. That was an absolutely fun cruise and it will happen again in late Sept. or early Oct. The cops were there in case of trouble but they let us burn up Main Street.......you couldn't even see the white lines the next day
