I installed Belltech lowering spindles back in April of last year. Not long after that, I started experiencing a great deal of rubbing from my front tires, which were on stock wheels. I had a set of hard plastic twist-in spring spacers in the rear springs which I took out and put in the front springs to lift them a bit. The ride heit was better and the rubbing stopped. Soon thereafter, I started hearing an ungodly squealing from my front suspension whenever it would move. The sound is a slow, nails-on-a-chalkboard sound and it happens when ever weight is let off of the car, like when a person gets out of the car or shifts their weight inside of it. I had my ball-joints redone and my springs replaced a few months ago when I got done swapping out my 305 for a 350. I replaced the original springs with replacements for the stock 305 El Camino SS. I was told it didn't make a difference with the 350. Once the car came back from the shop, the squealing was gone for a while, but is now back.
The shop told me I had a bad shock absorber and they replaced it as it was under warranty. Could it be that the squealing is coming from the shock again? If so, why do the shocks keep going out?

It sounds like the type of noise that would come from control arm bushings. Are they poylurethane, or stockers. If poly, they do that from time to time. If stock, they just might be worn like mentioned above. _________________ 1978 El Camino Conquista/SS, F-41 suspension, 350/T5/3:73

Hey Kris, sometimes my front end squeals also when I do those 3 grand plus brake stands smokings the tires before a run!...Just kidding, hope you find it as those things really can bug the heck out of you. You can only turn up the stereo so much to tune out the noise. Hope you find it soon! _________________ 70 ElCO
Unfortunately the stereo is off when I get out of the car. It's like my car mocks me as I get out of it, then it squeaks once or twice more as I shut the door.....the stereo only helps so much, but the car doesn't squeak so much as I'm driving.
