Well we got lucky again in Key West and only got a tropical storm instead of a hurricane. Minimal problems here. Instead of being called Key West, maybe we should be called " Key Lucky " when you consider all the other storms that have missed us and how vulnerable we really are. I guess I would rather be lucky than good. ! Hope you others are as lucky as the storm is making it`s way up the state. My only concern now is that while my El Camino was not in Key West for the storm , it is in the Daytona area getting some touch up painting and the storm is heading in that general direction. Hope Ed and Jay on the West coast were spared. El Dawg,82 Elco,Cyclone,Dave Tonger,Jax81,Blue81 ,Alimony; hope you and the others are safely covered.Well it`s time to go out and play in the storm and have some fun before the weather gets too nice again. It`s still too nasty to go out sailing. Best to everyone. Let us know how things were for you. _________________ A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.A true friend is sitting next to you saying " Damn, wasn`t that fun" !

Another 3 to 9 years should finish it.
Got ready for the rain storm boss closed the office for the storm 3 counties closed the schools government offices, AND I COULD SPIT MORE RAIN THAN WE GOT TODAY. We needed that rain real bad too. OH well no complaint better to dodge them than confront them, cause mother nature will win every time.
Good luck to those not tru it yet.

Glad to hear some of you did well with the storm. Still wondering how you other guys are doing as the storm has slowed down and producing so much rain and affecting so many in central and north Florida. MC87 it is projectd to head your way next. Skinyfisher, I gave up trying to figure out emailing photos to the Turkey Run people and will try to get my wife to figure it out for me real soon. I am planning on going to the Turkey Run in Daytona in November if they allow my 87 El Camino in as there is a 1973 year cut off. They allow exceptions if you meet 4 of 6 catagories they list on their website. I had to delay picking up my car because the rental car company was not too keen on me driving up into the storm and will talk to the paint shop up there later in the day to see how they made out with the heavy rains. Hope to hear from you others. Dave Tonger PM`ed me that he is fine. _________________ A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.A true friend is sitting next to you saying " Damn, wasn`t that fun" !

Yea its heading my way next.
Looks like i am going to postpone my trip to Largo.
Not a fun trip if we have to drive 5 hours in the stormy weather.
I was looking forward to meeting up with some of the west central florida Monte & El Camino members but maybe we can do in a couple weeks.
Ny neice lives 1 block from the beach in Melborne and when i talked to her last night part of her house had water in it. They were working hard trying to stop more from coming in. They expect almost 30" of rain before its done, thats just an insane amount of water in 2 days.
I guess when i get home tonight i better batten down the hatches. Unfortunatly the Elky is going to have to ride out the trorm under my 3 car carport. My enclosed garage will only hold 2 cars and the Monte's will need to be in there since they are in better shape than the Ellky.
I will put the Elky in the center and put 2 of our SUV's on each end to help protect it.
Wish me luck! _________________ 80 ElCamino / Blue-Blue 454-400 Trans

Thanks for the concern Lenny. The Elco, rest of stable and house et al made out okay. We did get hammered pretty well though.
The storm took a very slow and erratic pattern then... stalled. We've had pretty much non-stop rain for over 24 hours. We lost power for several hours last night but things are back in order.
Except for some of the landscape everything is okay. The bright side of all of this was that we got 3 paid days off due to the storm. KSC suspended operations since Tuesday.
Special thanks to El Dawgg who kept in touch with me and gave me weather updates like... "it is right over you" LOL.. via text messaging. Got a love the technology these days huh?
I'm looking forward to return to work and normal activities. The Elco has moved up on the list of things to get completed. _________________ Dropped Fullsize

I don't know if you guys are aware or not but there is going to be a first annual Daytona Beach Dream Cruise held the weekend of October 24th, 25th, and 26th. According to the website it is going to be modeled after the Woodward Dream Cruis (whatever that is).

I had a couple trees down, one across the driveway and the other on the back fence. Also had a branch fall right where my wife usually parks her Explorer.
I was outside but It started raining again so i had to put a halt to the cleanup.
Here are some pictures:

Mc87ss, Thanks for the photos. With the river photos it looks like you had your share of rain and good thing you could move your vehicles around. I noticed one shot where it looks like a you built a low ramp for one of the cars. Is that for the water or a work ramp? 82elco , glad you are well. It also took my wife`s effort to email in my photo and request to the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Nov. 27-30 . I hope you can make it. I was accepted and am awaiting my registration packet in the mail. Skinyfisher and I talked about it before. He has attended a number of times with friends from his area. . Our Region 6 Director Peter ( R59 ) has tried several times to get us to attend and I thought I should attend at least one. I hear it`s pretty big. The Dream Cruise earlier in Nov. also sounds like fun. Several others in your area have Elcos that certainly would meet the exceptions and hope they will come. Has anyone heard how Jax81 is doing? _________________ A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.A true friend is sitting next to you saying " Damn, wasn`t that fun" !

I built the ramps to make it easier to work on the cars. The 87SS is lowered so i can't pull it up on standard ramps without messing up my front spoiler. I made the "ramp" part 36" long so the spoiler won't hit. I also made the ramp part removable so once the car is on the 16' section i can move the ramps so i don't trip on them. Other then the obvious advantages like ease in changing oil ect. they were really great when i was painting the 85SS.
Best $40 i ever spent. 2 - 2x12x16' and 1 8x8 cut into blocks. I screwed the 8x8s to the 2x12s so i can just pick them up and move them if i want.
I usually just park one on the cars on them so they really don't take up any room.
Here is a picture of the 85SS during paint.

So.... you are doing Turkey Rod Run this year? Did you say you got accepted for showing inside or just to attend? Maybe we can get some fellow Elcos together. _________________ Dropped Fullsize
