Well took the Elky body apart and it is headed off to the shop for a paint re-do. Most of you guys down here know I do a lot of work for a restoration shop here and I worked a deal with him on labor rate some time ago to trade out a REAL paint job for labor. Well the amount finally got high enough he was wanting to take care of his end.
I'm not sure what I will end up having them do other than it will stay the base color that it is.
Any ideas gladly accepted since I have no imagination when it comes to this stuff. I have looked at a lot of pictures and can't decide. I don't want to go with flames or anything that wild.

Here she goes.

Hey Neil, how goes it?

Are you thinking two tone or solid with strips?

Base color with a little PEARL added might be nice.
Just one thought of which I'm sure there will be many.

Personally I would do ghost flames...

But if you don't want that

Then do a pearl or metallic overcoat, with the base coat, and some darker base or black stripes down the center...

Neil
Gost in on the hood sloop in gold very mild "STAGE ONE"and on the front quarter same or engine ID, then maybe run a stipe from that point to the rear. Every thing in gost gold with pearl in the gold.

Hey Neil,
How about leaving the front about the same color, with a slow fade to black going to the rear? With a real high gloss,it would be interesting.

Neil, Hey, I thought the paint job you did on it looked great but I know you are not the kind of guy that CAN leave things alone. I don`t know if you remember, maybe it was a 67 Corvette that was parked near us at Moroso Raceway for the Super Chevy Show in Palm Beach. It was a Corvette Honduran Maroon pearl with a gold base coat that showed through. I thought it was beautiful. No , I`m not talking about his girl friend in those shorts. I remember he was on stage with you , Skinyfisher and 84choochoo when you were receiving your awards. If you haven`t already, go by some of the paint supply places that cater to the car painters and look through their samples outside in the sun. It`s surprizing how many colors they have. I don`t know how to link but there are some past forums on paint and there is a guy called " The Storm " that can do a computer rendering of the color and design you give him that is really cool. He has a selection of rendering he has done on different year El Caminos. The other suggestions on some ghost flames sounds good to me. Let us know what you decide.

Good morning Neal,
So what color did you decide to have it painted?

Hey Neil, Don't have to be a 'sunshine state' enthusiast to be curious as to which way you went with paint. Must be painted and rubbed by now? How'd she come out?

Considering your workmanship, and attention to detail, I'm sure you'll make sure that it's 'right' .....

WOW. Can't believe i missed this post. I thought the car looked great with the old paint job, but i am sure it will look absolutely amazing once the new paint is done. If it were me i would go black with some ghost flames, but thats me.

I had posted about the color and it got lost in the last site take over.
I decided that it would just be tooooo much trouble to change color so I stayed with the same base color. It was shot last night. this morning it gets a 2000 grit sand job, some ghosting/strip work and then more clear.
I'll post pics tonight.

O ok got it. Well I am sure the new paint job will make your car stand out even more than it already does. Can't wait to see it again with the new paint.
