If you want to have a get together I know of at least 4 69's within 5 miles of me in Concord. None are shownShinw quality but they ARE Elco people.

Sorry it didn't work out. I can't find enough Elky's in the area to have a meet. Maybe some other time..... _________________ Yaba, Daba, Doo, How Sweet it is.......Or was!

So any luck in finding more cars for the show? I am here in Sonoma County and there are a few here that maybe I can get to go? I think it would be a BLAST!!!!
I know there's alot more EC owners out there than are visible, but I'm thinking that most may be intimated by the "Car Show" label. Maybe we should try to get a "gathering" of our species together.
Ya know, a causal thing where there are no judging or displays or banners.
Let's face it, if we were ready for Barrett-Jackson, we wouldn't be hanging 'round the likes an ol' dog like me!
I love drivng and working on my Sharp71 but she's a driver with no chance of ever being "Show" quality. I just like the vehicle and I'd love the chance to me others like me.
Maybe start small.. like a drive up burger joint. This way you can always say you "just happened to drive by"
Livermore has a place called John's Burgers were they have Hod Rod Drive Up on Friday. I think it's once a month.
I "just happened to be dring by" and stopped in for a shake with my boy.
There was one ol' beater there when I arrived but by the time I was leaving there were probably 8-10 hod rods of various vintage. All were just hanging around BSing. I thought it was very cool.
What are your thoughts?

Hey there, I'm in san jose and would love to get together even if just for a cruise night.
I know bonnie is up in concord, and Marv is in seaside, I have got a buddy with an 83 I believe in sunnyvale that would likely attend.
Only nights not good for me are Tuesday and Sunday nights, but most any other night or weekend durning the day if it is within an 1.5 of San Francisco i could attend.
A "SHOW" I would go to but not enter, but just a cruise night to show off the progress i am making (most of which only I seem to noitce sadly) would be great. We could call have an el camino support night. We can tell all our horror stories, projects gone ary and so on.
I had a chance to meet Marv about a month ago, and what I figured would be me stopping by for an hour at most turned into a 4 hour "elky story" Day.
Maybe we put together a barbaque at a local park or something, or find a parking lot and bring out our hibachis
Just some thoughts. Even if it were just 4 or 5 of us going i would try to show.
Very few of my other buddies understand the "We do it out of love for our cars" like you all seem to.

oops, just read back through the thread and saw the bottom half of your note which I missed the first time.
A friday night cruise night would do for me in livermore, my sister lives up there and have been meaning to get up there to see her (and more importantly talk to her father inlaw about building a custom wood bed for my elky ) _________________ San Jose, CA

Sorry Guys and Gals: Count me out for a Elky outing anytime soon.
With the high price of Gas these days, I may jsut make my Elky a weekender only, not a daily driver.
I supose I could sell it push come to shove ? ? ?

Sharp 71 I know there are lots of Daileys out there. Just have to get the word out. Maybe a get together is exactly what it should be called. Has anything like this ever been attempted before in this region? I am from the Fremont / Union City area and last weekend there was a show / get together in Fremont at the school for the deaf that displayed cars of all different stages. I am down to volunteer some of my spare time to explore setting something up.
Now yer talking! Anybody else out there?
Chime in with your location so we can decide on a convenient location.
We'd better get on it if we want to stay dry! _________________ SHARP71 - NECOA #352

"Not all who wander are lost"
Hey Danny, I'm still floating around Livermore albeit working a whole bunch more (switched from cars to heavy trucks and tractors). I am free most nights after 6:00 or so. A gathering at a burger joint would be cool, doesn't even have to be Livermore (although John's does have some kickin' burgers and shakes).
Dennis! Good to hear from ya.
Yeah, for those who have never been to Livermore's own John's Burgers... these are the ol' school gease bombs we used to eat before the chorestorol madness.
Maybe Dennis knows more than I about the Hod Rod Fridays at Johns.
Or I can look into to it more.
So OK... I'll make the first nomimation for the location for the unofficial, no show, no prizes, no judges "Region 18 Get Together"
My nomination is for Livermore in late October or early November.
Any comments or other nominations?
C'mon guys. Just seeing Dennis' EC project is worth the trip, not to mention John's Burgers.
Note to self... the spell checker is great!

Livermore isn't too far sounds awesome.. Plus from the sounds of it a heart attack comes with the deal. That is priceless... Let me know what I can do to help this "get together" kicked off.
