I don't think the web needs another El Camino forum since ChevyTalk gets alot of attention, and the NECOA board doesn't really. Each ought to have their own admin forums for club info, etc, but why not leave the car talk to CT?

I think each ought have it's own forum. The reason being, so many others have attempted to be all things to all to all people, or used poor boards, ie., Bravenet, etal., and eventually flouder or find a few niche cars. I think a forum dedicated to Elky's only using decent board software has a niche to fill. Gmforums.com decided to merge their Chevelle and El Camino forums and there has been talk of doing the same on chevytalk. I purchased this domain name several years ago with the intention of making a user friendly and user interactive website, yet haven't had the time to do much about it. I wanted to give the users the opportunity to create the type of site they would like use, by allowing them to create stories, content and post pictures of their rides without moderator intervention. I like the idea of the NECOA, but the site, (much like this one,) leaves alot to be desired, yet has great potential. I do not believe in banner ads and pop-ups. I hate anything java (slow chat java etc.) Just my two pennies.

I for one agree that this site IS different AND needed.
I am a regular on Team Chevelle- and While that site is and will always be the best site for chevelle info- The Elcamino does need its own home- And a place like this where users can have their own Image gallery- Pure elcamino help- for all years, not just 64-72 & 78-87s but ALL years INCLUDING First Gens 59-60 AND the lost boys 73-77s!!

There is a lot of info available on the internet- lots of different sites etc etc- But having a good CENTRAL site to begin with is key!!

I am the webmaster for the Elcamino classics club(seattle area) Our website is pretty basic, and just has a few pics of members cars and event pics(most are way outdated anyway) but it is AMAZING how much traffic we get- Based on how much my site gets, with no real content or anything, i know that If we can advertise and get THIS site rolling, I KNOW it will be a hit.

I'd like to volunteer to help moderate here if you need help-

I also have a giant collection of elcamino photos taken over the last several years from show (comes from being in an elcamino only club afterall) And I'd be willing to upload some to help populate the gallery

Also- I'd be willing to help write up an "Elcamino FAQ" for the site, to help answer the questions that always come along like "what is my car worth" "where can i go to find an elcamino to buy" etc etc etc...

drop me an e-mail and let me know if I can help!

Ok, I will concede. I can't believe how fast this site is moving! Anyway, I think the forums here are going to take off like a rocket, the only piece missing is input from owners of chevelles, malibus, etc. who share the front half of our cars! I am in full support of this site and will try to participate as much as I can.

Site Admin,
This is an excellent format for an all El Camino forum. I've linked the NECOA site to El Camino Central.
The NECOA site's forum page is, as already noted, the free BraveNet software. It is ad/pop-up filled.
I feel confident and proud of the content of the NECOA site pages, but I'm also pressed for time with my consulting business, so the site reflects what I can currently put into a no-fees club website.
The NECOA now has 335 members and I'm sure it will continue to grow. I'm in discuss with a club to feature the NECOA at their regional meet in September, so we should consider that a national meet for 2003. I'm also incorporating regional NECOA clubs in the near future so that members can actually meet other members and show their vehicles.
I'm a strong supporter of the ChevyTalk forum, and I'll be a supporter of this forum. If ChevyTalk did combine the El Camino forum with their Chevelle forum, as was recently discussed and the idea was dropped, anyway, if they chose to do that I would switch to some other forum.
The WWW is huge and open, so I believe their is room for many forums and approaches to spreading the knowledge of owning the El Camino and it's GMC cousins.
El Camino Central has lined up some excellent moderators so I expect it to quickly grow and possibly even surpass the El Camino forum on the ChevyTalk forum. Bryan Shook is doing an outstanding job as moderator of the El Camino forum at ChevyTalk and their is some very good benefit of the other ChevyTalk forum experts who "dip" into the El Camino forum and offer excellent discourse in that forum.
Keep up the good work and let's reevaluate in about 90 days to see what the status of participation of the three boards in discussion are doing at that time.
Thanks for your efforts.
